other和another，看起來很像，但英文用法不一樣。

1. other和another比較
快速了解這兩個字的差異。

2. another + 單數名詞
another後面，接單數名詞。
例句1
I need to get another cup of coffee.
(我需要再喝一杯咖啡。)
例句1，這個another是形容詞，意思是「又一，再一」，修飾名詞cup。
3. other 形容詞
other的意思是「其他」，可以當形容詞，也可以當代名詞。
例句2
These students are from other countries.
(這些學生來自其他的國家。)
例句2，other是形容詞，修飾名詞countries，表示：「其他的國家(other countries)」。
4. other 代名詞
有限定範圍，要加the，寫成the other。
例句3
One of my parents is a professor, and the other is a musician.
(我父母其中一位是教授，而另一位是音樂家。)
我父母，有限定範圍，範圍是這兩個人，因此加the，寫成the other。
例句3，other是代名詞。
5. others 複數代名詞
如果數量超過一個，要加s，寫成others。
例句4
Fifty members are in the meeting room. Some are from Australia, some from Japan, and the others from Taiwan.
(五十位會員在會議室裡。一些來自澳洲，一些來自日本，其他人來自台灣。)
例句4，有限定範圍，在這五十人當中，所以加上the。
此外，人數超過一個，再加s，寫成others。
因此是the others。
6. another/other
another和other，也可以出現在同一個句子裡。
它們分別代表不同的意義。
例句5
Mr. Lin has three sons. One is a scientist, another is a dancer, and the other is a journalist.
(林先生有三個兒子。一位是科學家，另一位是舞者，還有一位是記者。)
例句5，上方的順序是：one…another…the other(一個…另一個…還有一個…)。
(1) another：講到第二位時，也許會提到舞者，又或許會提到記者，有選擇性，所以用another。
(2) the other：剩下的人用other，因為有限定範圍，在這三個人之中，所以加the。
