這個英文慣用語，使用在：兩項相反的觀點，可用來比較，展現差異，經常與on the other hand連用。

例句1

I’m not sure if it is a good idea to travel abroad. On the one hand, it would be relaxing. On the other hand, it is expensive.

(我不確定海外旅遊，是否是個好主意。一方面，這令人放鬆。另一方面，費用很貴。)

正面看法：It would be relaxing. (這令人放鬆)

負面看法：It is expensive. (費用很貴)

例句1，由於on the one hand，以及on the other hand，都是「副詞片語」，因此寫成兩個獨立的句子。

2. on the other hand 另一方面

如果不想寫太多字數，可以單獨使用「on the other hand(另一方面)」。

至於on the one hand，不一定要寫出來。

例句2

The dress is fashionable, but on the other hand, it is not comfortable.

(這件洋裝很時尚。另一方面，它並不舒適。)
